Could you tell us something about yourself. How have you discovered Jane Austen and how did your passion for Jane Austen has developed?
Lauren:
"I first discovered Jane Austen when I was a young teenager. I read PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and thought it was okay. A few years later, I read PERSUASION and was instantly a convert. I went back and re-read PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and enjoyed it immensely, because I could see some of the nuances and humour I was too young (or too immature) to appreciate at first reading."
"Ich entdeckte Jane Austen zuerst als ich ein Teenager gewesen war. Ich las STOLZ & VORURTEIL und fande es ganz okay. Einige Jahre später las ich VERFÜHRUNG und war sofort ein Fan davon. What's your favourite Jane Austen Book and why?

"I enjoy them all; even MANSFIELD
PARK has grown on me. However, my
favourite is PERSUASION. I find Anne to be a delightful heroine, and
the whole “second chance at love” theme is so romantic. There are so many undercurrents. It never fails to hold my interest, and
somehow I always find something new each time I read it."
"Ich mag sie alle; selbst MANSFIELD PARK ist mir ans Herz gewachsen. Mein Lieblingsbuch ist VERFÜHRUNG. Ich finde das Anne eine wunderbare Heldin ist und die ganze "Zweite Chance der Liebe" ist ein sehr romantisches Thema. Da gibt es so viele Unterströmungen. Es ist immer wieder sehr Interessant für mich und ich finde immer wieder neue Zeit um es zu lesen."

"Too many to count! I have
been reading and enjoying other authors that Jane Austen read, such as Fanny
Burney. I enjoy historical novelists
ranging from Margaret Campbell Barnes to Georgette Heyer, Sharon Kay Penman to
Diana Gabaldon and Carola Dunn. I also
love mystery authors such as Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, Rex Stout,
Patricia Cornwell and others.
Non-fiction, especially history and biography, is also a favourite."
"Zu viele um sie alle aufzählen zu können! Ich lese und finde gefallen an vielen anderen Autoren außer Jane Austen, wie zum Beispiel Fanny Burney. dear friend of many years (we were roommates in college) made me a gorgeous
gown which is historically accurate down to the hooks down the back, a
drawstring for the neck and a chemisette and sleeves that change it from an
evening or ball gown to a day dress. For
evening wear, there is a wonderful turban, shawl and reticule. I also have a couple of other headpieces that
I use. I wore it at the ball in 2011 at
the JASNA Annual General Meeting in Fort Worth."
"Ein guter Freund den ich schon viele Jahre kenne (wir waren Klassenkameraden im College) machte mir ein georgianisches Ballkleid, was nach original historischen Maßstäben gemacht wurde wie ein Kordelzug am Nacken und eine Chemisette, was es zu einem Abendkleid statt zu einem Tageskleid macht. Für die Abendgarderobe gibt es einen wundervollen Turban und ein Umhängetuch. Ich habe auch einige Kopfbedeckungen, die ich benutze. Ich trug dieses Kleid auf dem Ball 2011 bei dem JASNA Annual General Meeting in Fort Worth."
